Overview

With growing awareness and use of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI ) tools across multiple sectors, three key legal issues require appropriate consideration: privacy, confidentiality, and  intellectual property.

As an emerging technology, New Zealand does not yet have specific laws relating to generative AI tools. However, existing laws and legal considerations still apply.

Join Duncan Cotterill Partner, Peter Fernando, as he discusses the following legal issues relating to generative AI:

  • Privacy, including the Privacy Commissioner’s guidance for agencies regarding generative AI
  • Confidentiality, including best practice tips regarding use of generative AI tools
  • Intellectual Property, including the vexed question of who owns the content created.

Directors' Deep Dive events are smaller interactive discussion-style sessions where you will be encouraged to ask questions and actively contribute your perspectives.

Please note this is a repeat of our 29 August session.
