Our Governance in Government series, held in association with KPMG, explores the policy settings and governance issues across the public sector.
Waka Kotahi and transport are at the centre of a number of issues both in central government policy thinking and in the media. Whether it’s issues like Transmission Gully, allocating funding for transport projects, the Let's Get Wellington Moving programme, or challenges at board level, Sir Brian Roche has aptly led the organisation through it all.
Joins us at this breakfast to hear from Sir Brian, who at the end of his second nonconcurrent term as Chair, will discuss the leadership issues at Waka Kotahi.
Brian has a number of governance roles in the public and private sector. He was a partner in PriceWaterhouseCoopers for over 20 years before retiring in 2009 to take up the role of Group Chief Executive of New Zealand Post Limited. He left there in 2017 and has been involved since as both a director and or advisor across a range of entities and activities.
In terms of the public sector he is currently Chair at City Rail Link Limited and Antarctica New Zealand and recently stepped down as Chair of Waka Kotahi.
Brian was Knighted in 2017 for services to the State and business.
