Overview

These days you can’t look at a news website, find a podcast episode or other publication without seeing two little letters: AI.

Some tell us that it’s going to be the end of the world, the robots are going to take over and whole areas of work are going to disappear.  Others say that this is the labour saving tool of the century, if not the millennia, and it’s going to save all of us from the lowest value jobs.

AI is with us every day, for example, with BusinessDesk having a BD AI by-line for reporting on developments with NZX listed companies.

There is much less attention to what this means for directors and boards especially from a data privacy perspective.  A recent New Zealand Institute of Directors "pulse survey" in AI showed only a fifth of directors had considered whether an AI policy was needed to manage AI risks, while at the same time more than two-thirds suggested that they were using or planning to use AI in their organisations.  And the survey also showed that almost two-thirds don’t consider their boards have the skills needed to lead their organisations into a digital future with AI.

So it is time to for directors to upskill on AI and this webinar is designed to do just that!

The start of the demystification process for directors will be understanding what AI actually is.  We’ll then look into the crystal ball and consider what might happen with AI - Data loss, privacy breaches, biased outputs, copyright breaches  to name a few. The webinar will conclude by guiding directors and boards towards key things they should think about with AI, how they might manage the implications from the board table in order to safeguard your organisation from emerging security risks posed by this new technology.

There will also be time to quiz the expert about the implications for directors and governance.
