Balancing governance, kaupapa Māori and commercial success
Successfully governing Māori entities requires a unique mixture of boardroom skills.
We have a fantastic cohort of Teina (Mentees) in our Tuakana Teina Chair Mentoring programme. Working with Community Governance New Zealand we paired 25 Not-for-Profit Chairs with experienced Tuakana (Mentors). The concept of Tuakana Teina is a Māori values-based principle of ako (two-way learning), which draws upon shared experience, knowledge and support.
The programme began in early 2022, and the Tuakana and Teina will meet up to 6-8 times throughout the year. In support of the Teina’s journey we will hold two in person sessions during the programme to provide additional learning, and the chance for them to connect. Additional online sessions for sharing and learning are held on a regular basis. Each Teina is also provided complimentary access to our NFP Governance and Finance Essentials online modules.
