Organisation description
World Vision NZ is part of a global Christian humanitarian organisation. Where children and families face war, natural disasters and extreme poverty, you’ll find our work. We are the largest charity by fundraising in New Zealand, with around $70m generated each year, connecting donors in NZ with life-giving programmes in 27 countries. If you are looking for a governance role that is of real significance, please read on.
Particular skills/competencies sought
We are seeking new Directors to join our highly professional and voluntary Board. As well as bringing the usual Board skillset, including experience at governance or senior leadership level, we are especially looking for people who have either of the following areas of expertise to bring to the Board:
- Strategic level knowledge of fundraising opportunities and risks in a changing environment
- A role in Ministry and the associated qualifications
You will be part of a dynamic governance team that is there to direct, support and challenge management.
Our vision and values place people at the heart of all that we do, so we are seeking to actively embrace diversity of people, backgrounds, ideas and experiences within our Board. We value and support the wairua (spiritual wellbeing) of our people and partners, and make space for Atuatanga and karakia (respect for God and prayer). As a Board member you will need to uphold our mission & vision:
Our vision for every child, life in all its fullness;
Our prayer for every heart, the will to make it so.

Commitment required
The board meets 4 times per year in Auckland (one of these is a two day retreat). Each member is required to have additional time to commit to support Board sub-committees, project work or areas of special interest, and correspondence between meetings.
Term
Appointments are for terms of 3 years with up to 3 terms.
Apply
Interested candidates should provide a cover letter and brief CV to World Vision, at Lucie.Newport@worldvision.org.nz by 5pm, 7 April 2021 detailing any relevant governance experience and potential conflicts of interest.
As a not-for-profit organisation this role will be pro bono; agreed expenses will be reimbursed.
