Born in Auckland and raised in Tonga,Tevita Funaki completed his education in Dunedin, graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce at Otago University. He subsequently pursued a Postgraduate Diploma in Project Management along with Harvard studies in Strategic Perspectives in Non-Profit Management and Behavioural Economics.
Prior to joining The Fono as CEO in July 2010, Tevita was the Pacific Health Manager for ProCare Health Ltd and the National Pasifika Liaison Advisor for Massey University.
He is currently the Chairman of the ProCare Health (PHO) Ltd, Oceania Career Academy and Ministry of Social Development Pacific Governance Group; Trustee of Foundation North and Moana Pasifika Community Trust, and Director of ProCare Network (Co-op) Ltd. He is also an independent member of Te Whatu Ora and Te Aka Whai Ora Health Services Committee, and a member of the Police Commissioner National Pacific Forum and Waitemata District Commander Pacific Advisory Group.
