Overview

Board directors play a pivotal role in driving the decarbonisation of their organisation's supply chain by understanding and addressing key aspects of sustainability. Understanding the environmental impacts and associated risks of their supply chain operations is a key part of this and includes understanding the carbon footprint across various processes, transportation methods, and raw materials sourcing.

Understanding these risks is increasingly crucial in navigating both the domestic and international regulatory landscape, meeting stakeholder expectations, and transitioning to a low emissions climate-resilient economy. Trading and supply chain partners, consumers, investors, employees, regulators, and communities increasingly demand transparency, accountability, and action on climate-related issues. Aligning supply chain decarbonisation efforts with stakeholder expectations is vital for maintaining trust and competitiveness.

Decarbonisation goals need to be embedded into the organisation's overall strategy, setting clear targets, monitoring progress, and regularly reviewing and adjusting strategies to drive continuous improvement. Through their understanding and leadership in these key aspects, board directors can effectively steer their organisation towards a sustainable and resilient future.

We will be joined by a panel of speakers representing different perspectives along the supply chain to discuss how boards can ensure oversight and confidence of supply chain decarbonisation.
