Join us to hear from Prime Minister, Rt Hon Chris Hipkins followed by a Q&A facilitated by Chapter Zero NZ Steering Committee member, Phil Veal.
Hosted by Dame Therese Walsh, Chair of the Chapter Zero New Zealand Steering Committee, this breakfast event will feature a keynote address from New Zealand’s Prime Minister, the Rt Hon Chris Hipkins. The Prime Minister will give us an insight into how the broader government works together to tackle climate change and also give us his perspective on the key issues leading into the election.
The keynote will be followed by a question and answer session, facilitated by Chapter Zero NZ Steering Committee member, Phil Veal. We will then promptly conclude the event at 9am, so you can continue with your day.

Prime Minister Chris Hipkins passionately believes that every New Zealander deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential in life. He is a staunch advocate for and defender of our public education system. Chris believes that a free, quality education is the right of every child.
Born in 1978, Chris has worked in both the public and private sectors. Chris is passionate about the Hutt Valley, his home, a place that he believes is “bursting with energy and potential”. An outdoor enthusiast, Chris is particularly keen on mountain biking, tramping and swimming. Chris currently lives in Upper Hutt.
He attended Waterloo Primary School, Hutt Intermediate and Hutt Valley Memorial College (later known as Petone College), where he was the Head Boy in 1996. He went on to complete a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Politics and Criminology at Victoria University.
After completing his study, Chris worked in the industry training sector. Before becoming an MP he also worked at parliament, first as Senior Advisor to two Education Ministers and later in the office of the then-Prime Minister Helen Clark.Chris entered Parliament in 2008 and became the Spokesperson for Education at the beginning of 2013. As well as Prime Minister, he is the MP for Remutaka, the Minister for National Security and Intelligence, and the Minister Responsible for Ministerial Services.
He places a strong emphasis on social justice and believes that every New Zealander should have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Dame Therese Walsh is an independent director and Chair of Air New Zealand Ltd. and ASB Bank Ltd. and a director of Antarctica New Zealand. She is a former Chair of TVNZ Ltd., Pro Chancellor of Victoria University Wellington, a Director of NZX Ltd., Contact Energy Ltd., NZ Cricket and Save the Children NZ and Trustee of the Wellington Regional Stadium. In her professional capacity, Dame Therese was Head of New Zealand for the ICC 2015 Cricket World Cup, Chief Operating Officer for Rugby New Zealand 2011 Ltd and Chief Financial Officer at the New Zealand Rugby Union and part of the team that worked on the winning bid to host Rugby World Cup 2011. For her services to sport, she was made a Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit in 2015. She was named the supreme winner of the Women of Influence Awards 2013 and awarded a Sir Peter Blake Trust Leadership Award in 2014. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and a Chartered Member of the Institute of Directors.
Phil Veal is a private investor and business leader with over 25 years of experience across a wide range of industry sectors. He is currently a board director of private investment company ForthCo, Skyline Healthcare Group (New Zealand Air Ambulance), and Natural Habitats. Previously, Phil has been an investor in and director of several other iconic New Zealand companies including Hellers, Tuatara Brewing, Phoenix Metal Recyclers and Rainbows End.
He is the Managing Director of ForthCo, formerly the Chief Executive of Rangatira, and ran New York-based M&A consulting company PIPC. A qualified civil engineer, Phil started his career as a construction manager working on infrastructure projects in Europe and Asia. Phil is a member of the Chapter Zero NZ Steering Committee and a member of the Institute of Directors New Zealand.
