Return on capital is one of the IoD top five governance issues for 2025. Join us for the webcast with NZ Shareholders Association CEO, Oliver Mander.
Return on capital is one of the IoD top five governance issues for 2025. In this Top 5 webcast, we’re joined by Oliver Mander, Chief Executive of the New Zealand Shareholders’ Association (NZSA), to explore what this means from a shareholder and retail investor perspective.
Oliver will unpack the NZSA’s priorities for the year, the investor lens on capital allocation and share buy-backs, and the rights of minority shareholders. He’ll also share insights into the current expectations of retail investors and how directors can ensure they are making capital decisions that reflect long-term value.
This session is designed to help members better understand the shareholder context behind one of the most significant governance issues facing directors today.

Oliver is the current Chief Executive of the NZ Shareholders’ Association. He brings a broad suite of leadership and functional experience to the role, having previously worked at Wellington Water, Chorus and BP Group, with whom he had a long international career.
His strength is as a strategic thinker, focused on transformative solutions, developing and implementing business strategies so that they come to life for organisations. He believes that a strategy means nothing without delivery.
At heart – he loves to solve problems!
Oliver has had a long-held interest in NZ equity markets and investment, having previously written as a regular business columnist in the NZ Herald. He is also a former Chair of Wellington Repertory Theatre and a current member of the Scout Youth Foundation Investment Committee.
Oliver lives in Wellington, New Zealand. He is enjoying himself immensely as CEO of the NZ Shareholders’ Association and hopes to maintain and enhance the strong reputation that NZSA has amongst the capital markets and investor communities.
