The Technical Series: Restructuring Insolvency & Turnaround Association of NZ (RITANZ)

Overview

Cash is the lifeblood of a business and there are serious consequences when cash starts to run low in your company.  Recognising when this might happen and how directors should appropriately respond are key skills necessary in good corporate governance.  As we navigate learning to live with Covid-19, many businesses have been forced to address viability and cash flow implications.  With the unprecedented level of support that has been provided, many other businesses will need to address these issues when the support is no longer available and debt needs to be repaid. 

In his presentation, John will traverse a range of technical restructuring subjects including; addressing working capital issues faced when impacted by supply chain and other changes to the way a business is conducted, the practical implications for directors to consider when they enter the 'twilight' zone of insolvency and potentially face personal liability and, finally  unpacking the different insolvency options and determining when each may be appropriate

John Fisk

John is the Chair of the Restructuring Insolvency and Turnaround Association of New Zealand (RITANZ).  RITANZ is a member of Insol International, a worldwide federation of national associations of accountants and lawyers who specialise in turnaround and insolvency.  John was appointed by the government to be a member of the Corporate Insolvency Working Group in 2015, making a range of recommendations to improve our insolvency laws and leading to the regulation of Insolvency Practitioners. In 2020 he was also instrumental in assisting MBIE with new legislation to assist directors and businesses facing viability issues because of Covid-19.
