Is a Tailored evaluation right for your board?
Our tailored evaluations can be customised to suit Crown entity boards of any size or experience level. Guided by IoD’s Four Pillars of Governance Best Practice, your board will gain unique and highly targeted insights and analysis by an experienced governance advisor to elevate your board’s practice and performance and meet your obligations.
Key features of a Tailored evaluation are:
- Question sets designed with you and tailored to your board’s specific requirements and unique environment. We recommend between 50 – 100 questions.
- Access to a secure evaluation platform for all survey contributors to assess your board’s performance and provide commentary and insights in a confidential way to encourage candour.
- A comprehensive report, produced by an experienced governance advisor, providing detailed analysis of your results, anonymised commentary, and recommendations for the board to improve its governance practice. Also included is a guide for how to use the evaluation insights and develop your board action plan.
Additionally, we can offer:
- A post-evaluation workshop with your board, facilitated by one of our experienced governance professionals, where you can openly discuss your board’s strengths and areas for improvement and develop a board action plan to take forward.
- Individual evaluations for board members to evaluate their own and their fellow board members’ governance practices. Individual evaluations are based on the IoD’s Director Competency Framework and cover strategic and governance leadership, informed decision-making, business acumen, communication, and other behavioural attributes. A report is produced for each board member and the chair.
- Development or review of a board competency matrix where board members can evaluate their skills, experience and knowledge levels based on the core governance competencies of the relevant Crown entity. Results are moderated by the board chair, and a board competency matrix is produced showing the board’s strengths and gaps in skills, experience and knowledge.
- Gain deeper insights with director/stakeholder interviews or have one of our governance professionals review your governance documents and/or observe a board meeting.
- Advice on developing governance systems and protocols, such as developing a board charter or conflict of interest policy. We can assess your board’s current practice and provide recommendations based on best governance practice.
