Cawthron Institute is New Zealand’s largest independent science organisation, delivering world-class science that helps protect the environment and support the sustainable development of primary industries in New Zealand and worldwide.
Based in Whakatū/Nelson, Cawthron works with local councils, central government, major industries, private companies, and other research organisations throughout New Zealand and around the world. A diverse organisation employing over 300 scientists, technicians, and researchers from over 30 countries it is a major contributor to the region and New Zealand.
Particular skills/competencies sought
Cawthron Institute is overseen by the Cawthron Institute Trust Board which appoints the Directors who govern the Board of Cawthron Institute.
An opportunity has arisen for two Directors to join the Board of the Cawthron Institute, one appointment will commence in late 2023, and one from March 2024. The Board is seeking individuals who will continue to add to the strong combined skill set of the current Board by demonstrating strategic leadership and governance, being prepared to bring diversity of thought, informed decision making, and excellent communication skills.
The type of specialism capabilities sought include experience in:
- strategic philanthropy;
- financial and risk management and
- experience across multi-generational workplaces
To be the right individual for this unique opportunity you will have strong governance experience, coupled with a specialism/s that will add to the Boards diversity and an ability to add value around the Board table by contributing future thinking for the organisation.
