Charities Services: See the Governance information for new officers resource (published 20 September 2019) which is a simple guide to help understand the role of an officer and how to contribute to governing a charity well.
CommunityNet Aotearoa is an online hub of resources designed to strengthen community organisations.
Sports NZ provides an online hub of resources, tools and guides, including Nine steps to effective governance (PDF link) which sets out basic governance concepts, challenges, structures and change processes and a nine step framework to effective governance. This is a useful resource for all NFPs.

Webcast: Future of NFP governance
A recording of a live webcast of an event hosted by the Centre for Social Impact is available for IoD members to view. The discussion included panellists Mai Chen, Te Aroha Grace, Mel Hewitson, Yvonne Powley and Caren Rangi who discussed a recently released a report into the future of governance for New Zealand’s NGOs.

FMA’s 2018 Corporate Governance Handbook is a handbook which can assist directors, executives and advisers in applying corporate governance to their companies, and is also applicable to not-for-profit organisations and charities.
Te Puni Kōkiri's Effective Governance includes governance resource for Maori organisations covering what boards do, how boards work and being a board member.
International resources for NFPs
There is an abundance of governance resources, tools and guidance around the world for NFP board members. We’ve compiled a list of some key resources that are also relevant to NFP board members in New Zealand:
