IoD Directors' Fees Survey

The IoD Directors' Fees Survey is now open and will close on 16 May 2025.

Our annual Directors' Fees Survey is crucial to understanding remuneration trends and governance practices across all service sectors. As a part of our governance community, your input is essential in ensuring transparency around directors' fees including where directors volunteer their time or receive no remuneration. This information helps support directors and boards to benchmark fees appropriately and understand directors' duties. Whether you serve in a paid or voluntary capacity, your participation provides valuable insights for the entire governance community. 

2025 Directors’ Fees Survey   

EY manage the survey on our behalf. They confidentially collect and compete the survey data and results are published in the annual IoD Directors’ Fees Report.  

What you’ll get 

IoD members will earn two CPD points for participation in the survey. These points can be self-logged in your  CPD dashboard in the My Profile section of the website. 

The survey is open to both members and non-members. If you are a non-member and would like to participate in the survey please contact us at governanceservices@iod.org.nz and we will send you all the details you need to participate.

All participants will receive a free copy of the executive highlights of the survey after the report is published and will be able to purchase the full report at a preferential price. 

Survey access

IoD members will have received an email invitation sent out by our survey partner, EY, on 3 April. Simply click on your unique survey link to get started. We’d love to get your input by 16 May, when the survey will close.   
 
If you haven’t received an email and would like to participate, please contact us at governanceservices@iod.org.nz, and we'll send you all the details you need to participate. 

How to complete the survey
  1. EY will email all IoD members a unique password which can be used to log in to the survey. This email will be sent on the 3 April 2025. If you do not receive an email, please check your spam folder. If you do not receive the email and wish to participate in the survey, contact us at governanceservices@iod.org.nz  
  2. Click on the link in the email sent by EY. This will direct you to a portal on the EY website
  3. Log in using your email address and the password EY sent in the email
  4. Click 'client login' (not 'EY Staff') to log in
  5. You will then be asked to change your password. Use the same password EY sent you as the ‘old password’ and then choose a new password.

If you participated in the previous survey, the answer fields will be pre-populated with your answers from last year. You can update any details that have changed. 

Privacy 
Your data is confidential. No individual will be identifiable in the published results.
